| For the second year I have compiled a comprehensive calendar of global motorsport events. Included are rallies, motorcycle road- and track-racing, off-road racing and races for single-seaters, sports cars, stock cars and touring cars. Only national-level and international-level events are listed here | ||||||
| Generally, for a national series to be included here it needed to have significance beyond its own borders. For example, the top national Superbike championships are here (British, American, Spanish, Australian and Japanese) since they are perceived as important on a more global level. Others of less significance (German, Italian etc.) were not included. | ||||||
| There are currently 78 championships listed. At this time five are missing: Formula BMW (Europe and Asia), Formula Nippon, Spanish GT and NASCAR Canadian series. Last year I included FIM and AMA Motocross, Supercross and Supermoto, but have dropped them this year. Also missing are the Japanese Le Mans Challenge, Grand Prix Masters and FIA European Rally Cup (North), all of which are now defunct. New additions to the calendar are the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, GP2 Asia Series, Speedcar Series and Grand Am Koni Challenge. | ||||||
| Finally, since I am a Brit living in the United States and this started out simply as a reference tool for just me, there is slightly more emphasis on British and American events. | ||||||
